What are GP bifocal contact lenses? Bifocal or multifocal contact lenses are contact lenses that allow you to see at all ranges, distant, intermediate and near. They are very convenient, the visual acuity is exceptional, they're comfortable, and extremely healthy for your eyes. Who is a candidate for bifocal contact lenses? Anyone that has what is known as presbyopia is a candidate for bifocal contacts. Presbyopia is a condition in which the aging eye, usually beginning at around age 40, is unable to focus at all distances and is often noticed when print begins to blur. The key sign that you're developing presbyopia is that you need to hold reading material, like a menu or newspaper, farther from your eyes to see it clearly. Whether you are just beginning to need correction for reading, currently have bifocal glasses, plain readers, monovision contacts, or are unsatisfied with your current bifocals you are a candidate for GP bifocals. Why haven’t I heard of these GP bifocals before? Recent advances in technology, more widespread education of GP bifocals, and the MVP Dispensing System have changed the dynamics for presbyopes. Until recently, most presbyopes were forced to wear glasses or compromise great vision by wearing monovision or soft bifocals. So what has changed? Many apects of bifocal contact lenses have changed over the past few years. The materials used to make the lenses now have a distinct advantage over older materials.
